World War 2 Day

In connection with their topic 'Blitz', children from Year 5 and 6 experienced what it was like to live in Britain during WW2 with the visit of the 'History Man'.

In connection with their topic 'Blitz', children from Year 5 and 6 experienced what it was like to live in Britain during WW2 with the visit of the 'History Man'.  Many activities took place during the day to bring this era in Britain's history to life for the children and they also had a visit from Mrs Smith, who is the grandmother of one of our pupils, who shared her experiences of surviving the Blitz. The activities ended with a tea party and the children were served with food that would have been typical of that time, e.g. spam sandwiches, paste sandwiches, jam sandwiches, victoria sponge and pink blancmange.
